We use washable stamp pads to make our fingerprints. Then, we decorate the fingerprints to make them look cute. The children have fun counting and decorating their characters!
If you would like to learn more about fingerprint art, I highly recommend the Usborne Activity Book, 365 Things to Make and Do. It was written by Fiona Watt.
Use Art to Teach Children Counting
Drawing is not only lots of fun but teaches children hand and eye coordination. At the same time, we can discuss some of our favorite math lessons. One of our favorite books is Usborne Best Selling Book’s, I Can Draw Animals.
For example, I Can Draw Animals by ….. teaches kids how to draw a Frog. Or, depending on the age of your children, you may want to draw the frog yourself, and then they can color it. It can also teach grown ups!
Now for the math. You can have your children practice counting the frog’s eyes, legs, or spots. Maybe you want to have your children color 2 spots red and one spot green. The frog has a total of 3 spots. The preschool children are learning simple addition facts, counting, colors and more! – Wow this is fun! I love Usborne Books for making learning fun and easy!
Teach School Children Math Facts
This activity is perfect for preschoolers and school age children who can really follow directions!
We don’t need to give children fancy expensive calculators or computers to learn their addition facts. This reasonably priced Learning Wrap Up is the perfect trick for a busy kid who wants to learn hands on!
They will love practicing their addition, subtraction, division, fractions, and multiplication. Or they can even choose to learn States and Capitals. After your children wrap the string around the Wrap Up practicing their facts, they turn them around to check to see if they are correct. The back of the Wrap Up has the lines to show if the child is correct.
Children's Math Game: Make Learning Fun with the Learning Palette!
The Learning Palette is a learning toy / game that grows with your children. I would recommend it for preschool through school age.
The Learning Palette is like a game and learning tool all in one. The learning Palette is perfect for teaching children how to count and add. They can even use it to learn math skills from money and fractions to probability and statistics. You and your children will use it for years to come!
You can either purchase the Learning Palette and cards separately or as a set. Just choose your child’s level.
We love using the cards and taking turns solving the problems on them. After you are finished, you can flip over the card to see if you have the correct answers.
Cut and Paste Fun with Preschool Children Math Games!
If you and your children enjoy making fun things out of construction paper, I would recommend incorporating math into this fun project. For, example you can make the great Octopus that is in the book I Can Cut and Stick. While you are cutting out the legs, your children can practice counting them. You can even teach your child a bit of addition.
You will be amazed at how much fun you and your children can have, learning together with this great preschool art project. Your children can learn about following directions, counting, addition, colors and cutting.
To take this project to the next step, I love to incorporate language and reading skills whenever possible. One great way to do this is by gluing the octopus onto a large sheet of white paper. At the top of the page give it a title, for example, Nancy’s Counting Octopus.
Next, at the bottom of the page, you may choose to focus on a few sentences or just number the octopus’s legs with the numbers written out.
If your child is in 4 year preschool, you may write a story similar to this one:
My Octopus has 1 mouth.
My Octopus has 2 eyes.
My Octopus has 3 spots.
My Octopus has 8 legs.
The reading level of your child will determine what kind of fun story you will create. This story should help your child to learn to read simple words and to sound out a few of the extra words.
Teach Math Facts with Educational Placemats
Your children will be sure to brush up on their math facts at breakfast, lunch and dinner with these educational placemats. Be sure to visit Blooming-Babies.com to pick up your placemats.
Enjoy teaching your children Math!
Anyway, I hope you find these ideas helpful. Have a wonderful day making learning fun.
